DUBAI – A nine-year-old girl dubbed by social media users as the “luckiest girl” in Dubai has bagged the $1 million jackpot in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw, six years after winning a Dh1.2 luxury car.
The girl, Eliza M., is a grade four student in Dubai. Her father, who bought the winning ticket under her name, told the media that he will wait until the weekend to break the news to her.
Her father said he has been buying tickets under the names of Eliza and her younger sister in the last 15 years and has spent a total of approximately Dh400,000.
Eliza’s ticket no. 0333 was picked in the draw’s 298 series. She is the 140th Indian to win the jackpot since the draw was launched in 1999.
When she was 2 years old, Eliza won a McLaren MP4 12C Coupe in the Dubai Duty Free draw in 2013. Her father said that Eliza could not attend the awarding ceremony as she was confined to a hospital at that time.
Eliza’s father said the latest winning will be spent on a trip to Europe on the family’s next vacation, and on her education. GAD/Expat Media
