DUBAI – Two Indian expatriates became multi-millionaires this week while a Filipino won a luxury car in two separate raffle draws in the UAE.
In Abu Dhabi on Friday, Vazhappallil Yohannan Simon won Dh10 million at the Big Ticket draw held in Abu Dhabi International Airport.
The Indian expatriate said he first thought that pranksters had called him to congratulate him on his winnings.
“This is great. I am very happy. Since this is for real I am very happy,” said Simon, who purchased his tickets online.
Eight other Indian expats and a Syrian man won prizes ranging from Dh10,000 to Dh100,000 in the draw.
Philippine national Jayson Baloloy from the Philippines won a Land Rover Series 12.
On Tuesday, Kuwait-based Indian national Sandeep Menon won the jackpot of $1 million in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire.
Menon bought his ticket online and is the 132nd Indian to win the top prize in the Dubai raffle draw.
“I’ve never won anything in my life, especially not something as huge as the Millennium Millionaire Promotion. I am extremely grateful for this great surprise.” Menon said. GAD/Expat Media
