Hail hits Sharjah, rain and haze forecast in parts of UAE

 

DUBAI – After heavy hail was reported in parts of Sharjah, the national weather bureau said there is a chance of rain and haze in parts of the UAE on Saturday (August 17).

Hail showers fell in Sharjah’s Mleiha area overnight as unsettled weather hit parts of the UAE in the past few weeks.

On Saturday, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecast a chance of rain with haze that could reduce visibility to 2000 metres in eastern and southern areas of the country.

According to the NCM, Saturday’s weather will be fair to partly cloudy in general, with rain forecast in parts of the country by late afternoon.

Temperatures will hit between 44C and 47C in internal areas, with humidity to peak at 90 degrees on Saturday night and early on Sunday morning over some coastal and internal areas.

Sunday, August 18

Fair to partly cloudy in general, with a chance of some convective clouds formation eastward by afternoon. Humid during night and Monday early morning with a probability of mist formation over some coastal and internal areas. Light to moderate northwesterly to southeasterly winds, freshening at times during day time causing blowing dust, with a speed of 18 – 28 km/hr, reaching 38 km/hr. The sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.

Monday, August 19

Fair to partly cloudy in general, with a chance of some convective clouds formation
Eastward and southward by afternoon, Humid during night and Tuesday early morning over some coastal and internal areas with probability of fog or mist formation over some coastal and internal areas. Light to moderate northwesterly to southeasterly winds, freshening at times during day time causing blowing dust, with a speed of 18– 28 km/hr, reaching 38 km/hr. The Sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.

Tuesday, August 20

Fair to partly cloudy in general especially east and southward. Humid during night
and Wednesday morning over coastal areas. Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds, freshening at times during day time, with a speed of 20 – 30 km/hr, reaching 38 km/hr. The Sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.

Wednesday, August 21

Fair to partly cloudy in general especially eastward. Humid during night and Thursday morning over coastal areas. Light to moderate Southeasterly to Northeasterly winds, freshening at times
during day time, with a speed of 18 – 28 km/hr, reaching 38 km/hr. The Sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.
