DUBAI – A Chilean crime gang who broke into a villa in Dubai and stole valuables worth more than Dh20 million will be spending two years in jail.
The gang members, aged 27, 30 and 31, admitted that they came to Dubai on tourists visas to rob villas in Dubai’s wealthy neighbourhoods.
On February 25, they broke into a British businessman’s home on Emirates Hills and carted away gold and diamond jewellery, luxury watches and handbags and branded sunglasses worth Dh20.7 million.
Police were able to track down the trio within 24 hours of the crime.
During interrogation, they said they rented a car after arriving at Dubai International Airport to look for homes to rob.
