Expo 2020 Dubai bans e-scooters at site
DUBAI – Visitors to the Expo 2020 site in Dubai will not be able to enter the area using e-scooters, officials announced.
The ban on the use of e-scooters at the Expo 2020 site is to ensure the safety of visitors and guarantee “overall visitor experience”. Expo 2020 opens on October 20, 2020 and is expected to draw a crowd of more than 25 million.
Expo officials also said that the ban on certain modes of transport covers all types of “personal mobility vehicles [and] equipment, including motorised e-scooters” except wheelchairs and baby strollers.
The decision comes months after Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority announced that e-scooters are banned on roads pending legalities on their use. Earlier this week, authorities confiscated e-scooters being illegally used on streets in Deira. ICA/Expat Media
