DUBAI – A 34-year-old Emirati man has been hailed a hero after he rescued a woman trapped in a burning home in Ajman.
Abdullah Al Shaheen told the media that he rushed outside his home after hearing an explosion from a nearby residence and found it on fire last Friday.
Al Shaheen, who is an Ajman Civil Defence employee, rushed into the burning property with just a sheet of cloth for protection after he heard screams coming from inside.
Amid the smoke and flames, he found her and wrapped her with the sheet to protect her from the flames as he led her outside the property.
The woman suffered severe burns and was taken to Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Hospital for treatment.
The Ajman Civil Defence said that the explosion and subsequent fire was caused by a gas leak. The explosion also left the residence partially collapsed.
Meanwhile, Al Shaheen expressed happiness in having saved the woman and credited his training as a civil defence employee for his quick action during the emergency. GAD/Expat Media
