Dubai royal weddings: as they happened

DUBAI – Hundreds of people converged at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Thursday (June 6) for the official wedding celebrations of the Dubai Ruler’s three sons.

Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed, and brothers Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed, Chairman of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, received well wishers on Thursday following a private Islamic wedding ceremony in May.

Sheikh Hamdan married Sheikha Sheikha bint Saeed bin Thani Al Maktoum; Sheikh Maktoum married Sheikha Maryam bint Butti Al Maktoum; and Sheikh Ahmed married Sheikha Midya bint Dalmouj Al Maktoum.

Here’s an exclusive peek inside the wedding venue:

Celebrations started at 4pm, with dozens of Emirati men performing the traditional dance called Ayala outside the World Trade Centre.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, expressed his joy at his sons’ marriage by sharing a poem that had been turned into a song by Emirati superstar Hussain Al Jassmi.
