DUBAI – In three years, the UAE is expecting to train one million Arabs in computer programming and put the country at the forefront of new technology.
“Coding is the language of the future and one of its key tools,” said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
“It creates opportunities for future generations. New technologies are the fastest way to create new opportunities for our youth,” he said at a graduation ceremony for One Million Arab Coders, an initiative set up to train Arabs on computer programming.
There were more than 22,000 people from around the world who completed the programme this year. A ceremony was held at Vox Cinema at Mall of the Emirates.
Sheikh Mohammed said mastering new technologies creates “new opportunities” for young people who wanted to improve their career.
