LEGAZPI CITY – Victims of landslide and flooding in the Bicol region rose to at least 16, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said Sunday.
Claudio Yucot, OCD regional director, said seven people died due to drowning in Masbate province.
The victims were residents of Claveria, Mobo, and Uson towns.
In Sorsogon, four people died after they were hit by landslides in Sorsogon City and Bulan town.
In Albay, three people, including a three-year-old boy, died when soaked rain soil and debris collapsed burying them alive in Barangay San Francisco, Legazpi City.
In Camarines Sur, a father and son were buried alive when a landslide struck their house in Barangay Guibahoy in Lagonoy town.
Meanwhile, reports from the Philippine Coast Guard in Bicol said as of 1am on Sunday, there are 1,630 passengers still stranded in the ports of Albay (1,146), Camarines Sur (442) and Catanduanes (42).
The OCD reported said 6,182 families or 22,301 persons are still housed in 66 evacuation centers in the six provinces of Bicol.
Power outages, meanwhile, were reported in the whole province of Camarines Norte, several towns in Camarines Sur and in the town of Bulan in Sorsogon. PNA
