DUBAI – A new ATM scam in the UAE is targeting residents and their bank accounts.
According to Emirates NBD, scammers send fake SMS alerts to potential victims, informing them that their ATM card is being blocked for failure to update the info on the card.
The SMS instructs users to call a certain number in order to unblock the ATM card.
Fraudsters are able to get sensitive information from their victims using voice-based phising or vishing.
Emirates NBD has sent out an alert cautioning customers regarding the new scam. GAD/Expat Media
