DUBAI – A man attempted to drown himself in the sea after being heartbroken, a Sharjah rescue official said.
Major Abdullah Al Khayal, acting director of Sharjah Police’s Rescue Department, said the incident happened after a family dispute on the beach.
Al Khayal said that the man, 18, wanted to kill himself by drowning after his parents refused to let him marry the person he wanted.
The police were alerted of the incident and rescuers were able to save him from drowning. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
