DUBAI – ‘Asia’s Phoenix’ is landing in Dubai for a concert at the World Trade Center in August.
This is Morissette Amon’s first solo concert in Dubai. The singer was in Abu Dhabi in 2015 for a concert with actors Daniel Matsunaga and Giselle Sanchez.
In Dubai, Morissette will share the stage with Sam Concepcion as guest performer.
She is expected to give a hair-raising display of her vocal chops, with popular songs, including her hit song Akin Ka Na Lang.
Her live performance of the song on roving radio station Wish 107.5 in February has gotten 28 million views so far.
Morissette rose to fame in the popular singing competition The Voice of the Philippines in 2013.
She has become one of Asia’s rising stars, being referred as the Mariah Carey of Asia for her ability to sing in the whistle register with ease.
The Filipina has said she loves Carey’s singing style and has drawn inspiration from it. Her musician father, however, has another favourite: Alanis Morissette. You can guess where she got her name.
