DUBAI – Burst tyres are one of the causes of accidents in the UAE and with temperatures expected to rise further this summer, authorities in Abu Dhabi have reiterated a reminder to motorists on road safety.
The Abu Dhabi Police recently released footage on the dangers of having unsafe tyres.
The police discouraged motorists from using fake tyres or expired tyres, saying both can cause accidents that may be fatal.
Motorists were also advised not to buy tyres that have been manufactured more than 150 days from the date of purchase.
The police said that traffic patrols have been intensified in Abu Dhabi highways to spot motorists using substandard tyres.
In the first four months of this year alone, police found 5,913 vehicles that did not follow tyre safety standards.
Motorists are urged to inspect their tyres for cracks and proper air pressure to ensure that they are safe to use. JHQ/Expat Media
