DUBAI – A Dubai policeman has been hailed a hero after he saved a man trapped inside a burning vehicle on a Dubai highway.
A video of the incident, posted on Dubai Police’s Twitter account on Saturday, shows a white 4X4 with its engine in flames and the police officer in civilian clothing rushing to help.
It appeared that the vehicle had crashed into a road railing. It is not clear what caused the accident.
The video showed Sergeant Mohammed Ahmed Mahfouz rushing towards the vehicle on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road.

The officer can be seen trying to pry the door open. He is also seen climbing on the foot railing of the vehicle to force the door open.
He is next seen training a hose on the engine fire, quickly extinguishing the blaze. According to reports, a water tanker had passed by, allowing the policeman to quickly to extinguish the fire.
The driver of the vehicle was later taken out to safety after the vehicle’s doors were forced open. GAD/Expat Media
