DUBAI – A European man who stole Dh1 million and hid it in a mountainous area in the UAE was arrested, police said on Saturday.
Dubai Police made the revelation at a recent event focusing on organised criminal activity.
“He kept checking the bag for four days before we arrested him,” said Major Ali Saeed Al Yamahi of Dubai Police’s Criminal Investigation Department.
Al Yamahi said that smugglers have been caught hiding stolen or banned items in the most unusual places, such as inside abandoned cars, bathrooms, desert, and even in devices like vacuum cleaners.
The police official said that in another case, police also arrested a man who hid small bars of gold and diamonds inside his body.
The suspect was trying to smuggle the goods out of the UAE, he said. DAJ/Expat Media
