DUBAI – An Indian expatriate is a new multimillionaire in the UAE after he won the Dh12 million jackpot in the Big Ticket raffle in Abu Dhabi on Sunday (January 7).
Hari Krishnan, 42, bought winning ticket 086828 online last month.
This is the first time that the Kerala native has won a prize in his 15 year stay in the UAE.
At first he thought he received a prank call when somebody called to tell him he won the grand prize, he said.
Krishnan works in Dubai as a business development manager for a construction company and has been buying lottery tickets in hopes of striking it lucky one day.
He said he has no immediate plans of spending the money but is thinking of paying off his loans in the UAE and India.
His wife, Nisha, said Krishan has always been confident that someday he will win in raffle draws.
The Big Ticket is Abu Dhabi’s longest-running and richest raffle draw. The January draw was the biggest with a grand prize of Dh12 million.
The tickets can be bought for Dh500 online or at at Abu Dhabi International Airport, Al Ain Duty Free or City Terminal Abu Dhabi. There is currently a buy-one-get-on free promo on the tickets. DAJ/Expat Media
