DUBAI – A 28-year-old man was found hanged on his birthday and while his flatmates were busy celebrating the New Year, according to police.
Police said that the incident happened in Bur Dubai on January 1 and that the deceased hanged himself just two hours after midnight on January 1.
Police did not reveal details about the man’s identity but said that he hanged himself with a rope in his room at an apartment that he shared with friends and colleagues.
Brigadier Abdullah Khadim Surour, director of Bur Dubai police station, said that the man’s flatmates last saw him going inside his room after they celebrated his birthday and watched the New Year celebrations.
Police said there was no evidence of foul play and that his friends revealed that he had been depressed recently. Police will be handing over the man’s body to his country’s embassy in the UAE. DAJ/Expat Media
