SHARJAH – A new project has just been approved to make Sharjah Beach into the next major leisure destination in the UAE.
The Sharjah Beach Development Project was announced on Saturday after it was approved by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
The project covers a 3.3km stretch along Sharjah Beach Road from Sharjah Ladies Club to the Ajman border.
Under the project, Sharjah Beach will have five beach areas and around 1.5km of “seating wall” along the beach for those who want to enjoy the view.
The area will also have five different plazas for community and art events. Sharjah Beach will also have picnic areas with seating and tables as well as fitness areas.
The area will have dedicated lanes for walking and cycling, as well as cafés and beautiful landscaping.
It will feature a seafront promenade that has food trucks, shaded areas, public squares, natural landscaping, water sports space, art spaces, changing rooms and prayer areas.
Parking space will be created to accommodate 1,100 cars on both sides of the road. DAJ/Expat Media
