DUBAI – A 42-year-old Lebanese man told the Dubai court that a gang of Africans blackmailed him and robbed him of Dh101,000 after he went to their apartment to have a massage.
He told prosecutors that he thought he was meeting a beautiful blonde Russian woman at the apartment in Al Barsha.
He said that they got acquainted on a dating app and that she had invited him to her apartment for dinner and a massage.
When he arrived there, however, it was a 27-year-old Nigerian woman who opened the door.
He claimed that the Nigerian woman told him to wait, before another Nigerian woman came out and demanded payment from him.
“They asked me for money… then three men came out and they all assaulted me. I was threatened with a knife,” he told prosecutors.
He said that the group took his mobile phone and also asked him to give the pin codes of his two bank cards, which they used to withdraw Dh101,000 from his bank account.
Police were able to arrest the 27-year-old woman and the three Nigerian men. The second woman remains at large.
Prosecutors accused the four Nigerians of beating and robbing the Lebanese and threatening to kill him with a knife.
The group pleaded not guilty when they appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Wednesday.
