SHARJAH – A Filipina and an Indonesian housemaid charged with allegedly killing their employer’s driver in Sharjah will be back in court in May, when their trial resumes.
The 32-year-old Indonesian and the 35-year-old Filipina appeared at the Sharjah Sharia Court of First Instance early in April when they were charged with adultery and the premeditated murder of the 43-year-old Indian driver at the house of their Emirati sponsor.
The two maids said they wanted to get rid of the driver who allegedly blackmailed and threatened them. The driver also reportedly slept with both the maids, which sparked their jealousy.
The victim was found dead in his room in the Al Qarayin area, Sharjah police said. An autopsy revealed marks on his neck, showing that he was strangled with a piece of cloth.
The Filipina maid allegedly confessed to the murder and said that she only helped the Indonesian maid kill the victim.
The Indonesian maid told the court that the Indian driver abused her and threatened to inform their sponsor about her relationship with an Afghani driver. He also allegedly started taking advantage of her and began fondling her after watching porn movies in his room. CLM/Expat Media
